Dev Sol

Dev Sol
   Dev Sol (Revolutionary Left) was a violent leftist movement established in Turkey in 1978 due to various disputes and splits in the original Dev Genc movement. Dev Sol terrorists assassinated former Turkish prime minister Nihat Erim in July 1980, one of the events that helped lead to the military coup of September 1980. Until recently, a faction of Dev Sol still existed as a violent terrorist organization in Turkey, calling itself the Revolutionary Peoples Liberation Party-Front (Devrimci Halk Kurtulus Partisi-Cephesi, or DHKP-C).
   Over the years it had been active in some urban areas and had also attempted to cooperate with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
